Do you know someone who is complacent about the problems they are having hearing? Are they refusing to consider that they can benefit from the use of hearing aids?
According the Better Hearing Institute, there are more than 34.5 million adults affected by hearing loss.
There are some estimates that this number may double in the next twenty years.

The steps toward the acceptance and use of a hearing aid include:
- The person must recognize that they have a hearing loss.
- They must also recognize that the hearing loss causes them problems
I also say that they must see (hear) that treatment solutions are available the problems they are having. These solutions can include hearing aids.
Most people recognize that they have a hearing problem. But they don’t think it is causing them, or their family or friends, a problem. They may even feel that other people don’t know that they’re having a problem.
It is estimated that half of the people with an untreated hearing loss say:
- their hearing loss is too mild
- their hearing issues do not cause problems for themselves or others
- they can hear well (the problem is because other people mumble or talk too fast)
These comments are similar to 83% of current hearing aid users. So these comments are typical.
If you know someone who in denial or just really complacent about their hearing problems, help them recognize that their hearing loss is placing pressure and problems on all of the family.
